The Shepherd of Readersburg | 30 May 2019: Storyann wishes at times that the money she puts in her piggybank converts to mushrooms and amoebae—it multiplies just because.

She puts 100 bucks in it. When she opens it after a while, voila! she finds 500 bucks! Nah! Storyann is not greedy.

Such fantasies occur to her when she really needs to feel rich. For instance, right now she has to buy a pencil pouch for Mini, the daughter of their family cook.

Mini’s pencil pouch looks like someone put it through a shredder. Not that her parents are so poor.

It's just that Mini tends to go that extra mile in ensuring that she is not being a burden on her parents’ piggybank. So she avoids demanding new things when the old ones serve the purpose all right.

It’s her birthday next week and Storyann thinks upgrading her friend’s school stationery would be a good idea.

So she quietly hopes … that her piggybank becomes a magic box!

And what? It does become exactly that! A MAGIC BOX!

When she opens it, there are 500 bucks in it! What?! How?!

Here’s how: Her parent’s idea is that each one of them would secretly put into the piggybank some money each time their daughter deposits money into it.

Both the parents recently received bonuses at work. So they deposited big amounts: 150 bucks each.

There will be times, like when both her parents were out of job for a couple of months, during such times they would deposit less money—maybe 50 against her 100.

Psstt! Grownups have their own cool magic box! Seriously! It’s called Mutual Fund.

They deposit some money in it. If the government has a lot of money, people’s money inside the Mutual Fund multiplies hugely.

If the government is going through a bit of a rough money situation, people’s money grows less or slowly.
