Books to read this week

Euco is quite a lot into reading these days. He carries a book wherever he goes. Just in case he has to wait before a meeting, he fills the waiting time with reading.

And these are the two books he picked up and recommends them for you this week.

The Boy At The Back Of The Class

Title: The Boy At The Back Of The Class

Author: Onjali Q. Raúf

Publisher: Orion Children’s books

Age: 9+ years

Synopsis: There used to be an empty chair at the back of my class, but now a new boy called Ahmet is sitting in it.

He's eight years old (just like me), but he's very strange. He never talks and never smiles and doesn't like sweets - not even lemon sherbets, which are my favorite!

But the truth is, Ahmet really isn't very strange at all. He's a refugee who's run away from a War. A real one. With bombs and fires and bullies that hurt people. And the more I find out about him, the more I want to be his friend.

That's where my best friends Josie, Michael and Tom come in. Because you see, together we've come up with a plan

One Of Us Is Lying

One Of Us Is Lying

Author: Karen M. McManus

Publisher: Penguin UK

Age: 12+ years

Synopsis: On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.

Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.

Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.

Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.

Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.

And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app.

Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.
